Sperm count is on the decline, according to the recent studies. The research studies revealed that male fertility has been dropping at a worrying rate, and it is important to find solutions to counteract this solution. The fertility of a man depends on his lifestyle and diet. So men wanting to start a family should have healthy foods and steer clear of alcohol, processed meat, and potatoes to keep their sperm quality high.
The inclusion of nuts in a regular diet significantly improves the quality and function of human sperm, according to results of a research which measured convention semen parameters and molecular changes over the 14 week study period. The findings support a beneficial role for chronic nut consumption in sperm quality and reflect a research need for further male-specific dietary recommendations.
More nuts for better sperm quality
The nuts play an active part in increasing the sperm quality. Eating about two handfuls of nuts can increase vitality, motility, and morphology of the sperms.
Walnuts and pistachios may play a role in reducing erectile dysfunction, according to the study; the nuts improve sperm quality and sexual life. Walnuts are a natural source of omega 3 fatty acids that along with other polyunsaturated fatty acids, are needed for sperm to mature and work properly.
Other foods, like fresh oil and flax seeds, also contain these compounds, but walnuts come in a convenient snack and go format. The nuts give the sperms the boost they need to get the job done. The nuts like walnuts and almonds are rich with arginine, an amino acid that has shown to increase sperm production. Peanuts contain zinc, which helps in increasing sperm count and motility.
In research, a group was asked to have 60 gm per day of a combination of hazelnuts, almonds, and walnuts to their regular diets. Participants in the second group simply followed their regular diet. In order to make a comparison, sperm and blood samples were collected from all participants- both at the beginning and at the end of this clinical trial. At the end of the trial period, the scientists noticed that the participants who followed the nut-enriched diet had significantly improved sperm quality.
According to the research study, these improvements could be due to the fact that nuts are enriched with essential nutrients, protein, vitamins, and omega-3. However, further investigations, explains that it is hard to say that nuts alone are the solution to better sperm quality. It cannot be said according to the results of the study. But evidence shows following a healthy dietary pattern might help in improving male fertility and of course nuts are a key component in the healthy diet.
